Take a look……………..
You tell me the rest of the line! I couldn’t resist that one and if my kids read my blog, they would SO know this song! Chris or Claire might know though and whoever else might read this; so…. sing to me!

The Butterfly Conservatory at Callaway Gardens was probably mine & Stacy’s favorite spot we went that weekend. It was an interesting place, big glassed in room that I thought would be more air conditioned than it was. They kept it rather humid, to mimic a tropical like atmosphere that butterflies are used to. They have butterflies from all over the world that arrive in a chrysalis. Then they are kept in this big room with tons of plants and flowers. So when you go inside butterflies are just everywhere. The exit door is mirrored with a sign on it that tells you to check and make sure no butterflies are on you before leaving so they don’t get taken out of their environment. We had fun taking a ton of pictures!

Don & I went to Callaway Gardens in Georgia recently for the weekend….met up with Stacy & Tim for the weekend part of their vacation! The guys played golf, a lot! And we decided to tour the gardens. Not as much blooming this time of the year I suppose but we did still find things that were pretty, and we took lots of pictures!
This was at the Horticultural Center but I didn’t get the name of this one.

I have a few more on the extended page:

Katrina over at Callapidder Days is hosting the Fall Into Reading Challenge.
“The Fall Into Reading Challenge encourages you to set goals for your personal and/or family reading. Everyone who wants to participate will make a list of books that they’d like to read (or finish) during the next few months. We’ll share these goals with each other, and then share our results at the end of the challenge.”

The challenge will take place from September 23, 2006 to December 21, 2006. It’s a good way to tackle reading some of those books we all have piled up somewhere. I’m an avid reader but I tend to only read fiction so I’m trying to include a few different books and hope this will motivate me to read them. My list might be a bit too long but hopefully I can get the majority of them done. Be sure to check it out & join in if you’re interested and let us know what you’ll be reading!
Here’s my list:

Things Pondered by Beth Moore
Lincoln at Home by David Herbert Donald
Let Go of Clutter by Harriet Schechter
Daniel by Beth Moore…bible study book that I’m bogged down on
90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper
At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon
A Light in the Window by Jan Karon
A Vow to Cherish by Deborah Raney
The Bluebird and the Sparrow by Janette Oke
Hanna’s Daughters by Marianne Fredriksson
Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury
The Amber Photograph by Penelope Stokes

I think I would also like to read something by Jodi Picoult but haven’t gone to the library yet to find it, and my library doesn’t have many books by her so not sure which one of hers to read. And when it’s closer to Christmas I’ll probably want to include some holiday books.
Happy reading y’all!

Thirteen Things I Packed But Didn’t Use/Need

We went to Callaway Gardens for a long weekend with my sis and BIL, took too many things that I didn’t use!

1. IPod
2. Hat
3. Hairdryer….there was one in the room.
4. Nail polish….didn’t get around to it.
5. Small flashlight….usually take it & usually don’t need it!
6. Exercise clothes…walked around a lot but didn’t go to fitness center.
7. Pedometer (same as above)
8. Pillow
9. Extra tops & capri pants
10. Bracelets
11. Extra book to read…..can never have too many books though.
12. Small cooler for the car
13. Car charger for cell phone….just used wall charger.

I think when we travelled with all 4 kids we packed more efficiently. But now if we drive and it’s just 2 of us, I seem to throw in a lot of extra stuff, just in case!

“Now I know, I know that it’s true, don’t say that this is the end”……….but it is the end; we found that out a few days ago! And I’m not being a happy camper about it! It’s been going on for 3 years now and I took it for granted and thought it would last a really long time. Now it’s over and I have no idea what we will do……………

It was about 10 minutes before 8 central time & I had just run to the cleaners to drop something off. On the way home I heard on the radio that a plane had struck the World Trade Center. I was shocked and ran into the house calling for Don to turn the tv on. By then the networks were live with shots of the first tower in smoke & we were transfixed by what was being shown. We watched live, as it happened, the second plane hit……Don saw it on the screen and said “that plane is going to hit the tower also”. I remember telling him that wouldn’t happen again, and then that plane crashed into the building. He knew immediately that we were under attack; it took me a while to really grasp that. I was glued to the coverage most of the day, horrified at what was happening and at what it might mean. I had an overwhelming need to find all our children and have them come home to be with us but….

On a bright cloud of music shall we fly?
(Ok, well I’ll keep trying with the lyrics and see if anybody will play along!)
Not ready for the flying part yet but we went to our first lesson this week………lesson in what you ask? Hubby wanted to take ballroom dancing and signed us up! He said he told me but I don’t seem to remember it! After I found out we were signed up, he asked me several times to please go, so I agreed to it. I’m not opposed to learning but I wasn’t excited to be in a class with so many people I know! We learned some basic steps to the foxtrot. Just about everyone there was a beginner so that helped a good bit. It’s not as easy as it looks, or it wasn’t for me. Mostly they will teach us some basic things so that we can dance at a party or wedding. But, I feel very kluzty now!
I guess it’s good to keep learning new things though 🙂

We made a quick trip to Houston over the weekend to see Shanna, Trent & the kids. Don & Tim played golf on Friday afternoon, we spent the night & had a really early flight out Saturday morning. Trent picked us up at the airport & we went to their house to spend a couple of nights. Grayson turned 4 on Saturday and they had a little cookout/party for him with family; we got to see Shanna’s family as well. The big thing Grayson got for his birthday was a puppy! He has been so excited about it for quite a while and had even named his dog Scrappy, long before they even got him. The original dog they had picked out didn’t work out so late last week they found a beagle puppy for him & he was to be delivered Saturday morning.

I’ve been tagged by Claire at her blog to participate in The Food Bloggers Guide to the Globe project….to compile a list of 5 foods to eat before you die. This is hard for me to do to only pick 5 things; there’s so many choices are out there and I like way too many of them! Food not only nourishes us, but reminds us of childhood, family times, celebrations, holidays, etc. I’m sure I’ll think of something I should have included after I do this but here is my attempt and in no particular order:

1. Tomato sandwiches….. made with “real” homegrown tomatoes. I love them and wait for them all year until someone gives me “real” tomatoes! I like BLT’s too like Claire listed but thought I’d stick with just a tomato sandwich.
2. Grilled salmon…..something we’ve learned to love in the last few years.
3. Chocolate……I thought of a few things to list here, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chess pie, my chocolate chip cake, chocolate chess squares, etc. but couldn’t pick just one so I just did Chocolate instead of something specific!
4. Figs……they are so good ripe & right off the tree or cut up in a bowl with sugar & milk for breakfast.
5. Turkey dinner, with all the trimmings & sides……..shared with family & friends at Christmas or Thanksgiving, a great time!

Oh yeah, and who knows the song? Let me know! (the one in the title)

Thirteen Things Cluttering My Desk

1. sewing machine……..need to use it but can’t get motivated
2. spools of thread
3. offering envelopes for daughter
4. post it notes……stuck in many, many places
5. address book
6. stamps
7. photos
8. shopping list pad
9. sewing scissors
10. some mail that needs attention
