Katrina over at Callapidder Days is hosting the Fall Into Reading Challenge.
“The Fall Into Reading Challenge encourages you to set goals for your personal and/or family reading. Everyone who wants to participate will make a list of books that they’d like to read (or finish) during the next few months. We’ll share these goals with each other, and then share our results at the end of the challenge.”

The challenge will take place from September 23, 2006 to December 21, 2006. It’s a good way to tackle reading some of those books we all have piled up somewhere. I’m an avid reader but I tend to only read fiction so I’m trying to include a few different books and hope this will motivate me to read them. My list might be a bit too long but hopefully I can get the majority of them done. Be sure to check it out & join in if you’re interested and let us know what you’ll be reading!
Here’s my list:

Things Pondered by Beth Moore
Lincoln at Home by David Herbert Donald
Let Go of Clutter by Harriet Schechter
Daniel by Beth Moore…bible study book that I’m bogged down on
90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper
At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon
A Light in the Window by Jan Karon
A Vow to Cherish by Deborah Raney
The Bluebird and the Sparrow by Janette Oke
Hanna’s Daughters by Marianne Fredriksson
Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury
The Amber Photograph by Penelope Stokes

I think I would also like to read something by Jodi Picoult but haven’t gone to the library yet to find it, and my library doesn’t have many books by her so not sure which one of hers to read. And when it’s closer to Christmas I’ll probably want to include some holiday books.
Happy reading y’all!

Great list, Gail. And I love the picture. I have Things Pondered on my “Maybe get someday” list at Amazon.com, so I’ll be eager to see what you think of it. And I just read my first Jodi Piccoult book earlier this month (Vanishing Acts)… Thanks for joining in!

  2. Debi Says:

Karen Kingsbury is awesome! Let me know what you think of Like Dandelion Dust. I can’t remember if I have that one yet or not. I read the Blue Bottle Club by Penelope Stokes and it was very good. I’ll be interested to see how you like The Amber Photograph. Happy Reading!

  3. Laurel Wreath Says:

Great list. I too am doing the Daniel study.

  4. Barb Says:

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors and I have all her books. If you’ve never read her, I’d recommend you start with My Sister’s Keeper. It’s one of her newer ones and I’ll bet your library has it.

I’ve decided to do the Beth Moore Daniel study too. I’ve seen it everywhere I go today.

  5. Erin Says:

Great list! My mom has had a lot of fun with the Mitford series by Jan Karon, so I hope you will too.

  6. Southern Girl Says:

Great list — I’ve read all the Jan Karon novels and really love them. Hated to see that series end.

  7. Claire Says:

The Jan Karon books are GREAT! The only one I haven’t read is the newest and last one! Another good book you should read some time is Shadow Women. It’s the story of Moses and the Exodus from the perspective of Miriam, Tzipora, and the Egyptian princess. GREAT BOOK! Right now I’m re-reading (a chapter a night!) Anne of Green Gables. this is one of the best books ever. It never gets old. My mom read the series to me when I was little.

  8. Jennifer, Snapshot Says:

I enjoy Jodi Picoult. I think I’ve read a few, but the ones that really stand out are Plain Truth and the Pact. I always mean to check out more at the libary, but I never get around to it.

Also–My dad lives right across the road from your church!!

I loved Jan Karon’s and Janette Oke’s books! Like Dandelion Dust was good, too. I’m not familiar with the others. Happy reading!

Great list! Let go of clutter sounds real interesting as does the Karen Kingsbury. I haven’t read that one yet! Happy Reading

  15. Stacy Says:

Great list! I am interested in several of those on your list, and want to know if the clutter one is one you own or a library one? I definitely *need* to read something like that, although I don’t do well with self-help or nonfiction type of books. I want to hear your review of the Janette Oke and Karen Kingsbury one. And the “Hannah’s Daughers” one, isn’t that one we got at the library sale? Save that one for me to borrow please! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Great list sis!

  16. Jenny Says:

Good list. I read and enjoyed “the bluebird, the sparrow” a long time ago, very good read. Like your picture of the books.
    happy reading,

I’ve been wanting to do Daniel. I didn’t add it to my list because I want to go back through the one of hers that I just finished recently. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Great list!
    Happy reading!

  20. Kathleen Marie Says:

I loved the Daniel Bible Study. Beth Moore is very blessed. You have an interesting list there. It is amazing the variety of books listed!

  21. Claire Says:

This is not about books but, FYI I found some whole wheat pastry flour. Given it is in Jackson at Rainbow Whole Foods. It was for, I think, 65 cents a pound. Next time you’re in the area, pick some up!

  22. Rona Says:

I love to read and this is such a fun way to do it.
