I, I who have no one….”

I think I’m coming up dry most days for something to post; I have no new cute kid pictures, haven’t thrown anything more out or bought anything and none of that is really interesting anyway! I think deep thoughts sometimes but it never translates well when I try to write it down. Shawna emailed me a little meme thing a few weeks ago so I decided to pick part of the questions to post today!

1. What is your occupation? I taught school for about 1 1/2 years before I had kids, well it was kindergarten so I guess that doesn’t count much. After that I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom with everything that goes with it, and I’ve always said I might have done more chauffeuring than anything else!

2. What color are your socks right now? Most times I only wear them if I’m walking and then I wear really short white ankle ones; occasionally I wear some dark ones that are a little longer with my boots.

3. What are you listening to right now? the tinkling of my wind chimes and a ticking clock nearby

4. What was the last thing that you ate? a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast

5. Can you drive a stick shift? I hope I still remember how! If I had to I guess I could but I really prefer not to….my first car was a stick shift VW bug but I haven’t driven one in forever…..does a riding lawnmower count? I rode it for years but thankfully got to give that up about 5 years ago!

6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? how about green!

7. Last person you spoke to on the phone? that was probably Stacy when she called last night

8. Favorite drink? I drink water almost all the time, hardly ever anything else. But it’s a nice splurge to have a cappuccino or coffee sometimes with flavored creamer.

9. What is your favorite sport to watch? I don’t watch sports much on tv at all, I loved going to all my kids basketball games and track meets when they were in school. I used to LOVE to watch Every.Single.Game of the Atlanta Braves that came on but I burned my family out on that big time. I love to watch March Madness, and the big stuff like the Olympics or occasionally the Super Bowl.

10. Have you ever dyed your hair? LOL! Umm, yes…………I hope lots of you have. 😆

11. Pets? We are down to one outside cat, Arthur, who technically belongs to Elizabeth but she has never taken him her with her! We did have the BEST dog on the face of the earth, Caleb our black lab and wonder dog…..but sadly, he disappeared a few years ago and we just haven’t had much interest in starting over. Having pets is like having kids and lots of work!

12. What kind of pie? Key Lime! And of course anything chocolate, like chocolate chess pie, yum.

13. What was your favorite toy as a child? Well, I have this whole thing of not really being able to remember anything from my childhood so this one is hard for me. My first reaction was to say a book because I read all the time. But maybe I played with Barbie dolls some and I think maybe played board games………I was sorta an inside girl!

14. How many states have you lived in? I have lived in Mississippi my whole life! Sad maybe. Unless I can count that hubby and I lived one summer in Colorado while going through some training with Campus Crusade for Christ, but then we moved back here!

15. What is on the floor of your closet? Lots of shoes that need to be organized, some shoe boxes and a crate or 2 that’s full of pictures I need to start organizing! Hubby’s side has a few shoes, a golf club, hunting paraphernalia and a laundry basket.
And a few days ago these were all over the floor of my closet, from doing a little cleaning out:

Kudos to you if you read all the way to the end! Pretend bonus points for all of you and any of you that know who sang the oldie that I got my title from.
We’re giving a marriage blessing and dinner party tomorrow so hopefully I can get a few pictures from that. I hope y’all have a great weekend!

OK, the title sounds familiar. Didn’t Jordin Sparks sing this last year on Idol?

Fun meme and answers. Some of ours would be very similar but some different. I like key lime pie, but it’s not my most favorite thing in the world. I can’t remember my childhood either, fancy that! I can’t drive a stick shift, never have been able to despite trying several times. I’ve lived in one other state for a year… oh, and my favorite drink would definitely NOT be water! I would have at least 5 or 6 other choices 🙂 I’m a big drinker, you know, hehehe!

We love football here, and we have the world’s best dog. Caleb was a great dog, but I don’t think he would top my Sally girl or my Beau baby 🙂

Have a good time at the party Saturday night!

  2. annie Says:

    I read it all!
    But I don’t know the song …
Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Gail Says:

Stacy has a good dog now and had a good one that’s no longer with her but they were NOT better than Caleb our dog, the best dog ever! 🙂 She’s just sadly mistaken.

She is right that Jordin Sparks sang this song on Idol last year but I’d forgotten that, way to go sis! And after looking it up, I was wrong on who the original singer was so any and all guesses are entertained! I think several people have done it.

  4. Becky Says:

Earth Band … He buys you diamonds, bright and sparkling diamonds, but believe me when I say that he can give you the world but he’ll never love you the way I love you.

    But I cheated.

That was a good meme. I was a teacher too, I am listening to my wind chimes also, key lime would be my pick, and I am a water drinker. Big water drinker. I hope that is what Stacy meant.

I do, however, watch all the sports on tv. Anything and everything.

  5. Coach Jenny Says:

I read it all; and I think Stacy is right. Jordin Sparks sang it on AI last year, which is the ONLY way I know this song 🙂
I {heart} choc chess pie! And, I may be the only one left, but I’ve never dyed my hair. That’s not to say I won’t one day, but for now, that’s less $$ I have to spend.

  6. Coach Jenny Says:

Oh, and I think it goes without saying that I LOVE to watch basketball. I love!love!LOVE! March Madness!! My world stops, and I sit in front of the TV for days on end overdosing on the best sport in the whole world!!
    There. I’ve had my say.

  7. Debi Says:

Key Lime Pie…mmmm! And if I was you, I’d count Colorado.

  8. Tammy Says:

Fun to read, Gail! Even when you have “nothing to blog about” you still manage to be fun! 🙂

  9. Barb @ A Chelsea Morning Says:

That’s a big pile of hangers, Gail. You got pretty serious about cleaning out that closet. LOL

  10. Dawn Says:

You know how *I* feel about my sports. I do not miss a televised Patriots or Packers game. And I watch every.single.game of the Red Sox. Including all televised Spring Training games. LOL

  11. jen Says:

This was fun. I really enjoyed this. I love Mississippi…and all of the south for that matter. and I had to learn how to drive on a stick shift….my dad made me. I hope you had a good weekend….the marriage blessing sounds fun.

  12. Dianne Says:

Wow,i am impressed with the closet cleaning! And to Stacy for knowing the song title! I cannot drive a stick to save my life but then I have not had to dye my hair yet so that’s a fair trade-off I think~

  13. Lauren@Baseballs&Bows Says:

I didn’t know the song. I also didn’t know you were a teacher before your kids were born. Don’t say kindergarten wasn’t important! You were the foundation of learning for those kids. 🙂

  14. Nancy Carson Says:

I love your meme… and my closet floor sounds just like yours! I always learn so much from a meme. Thanks for sharing.
