Baseball has started again………I used to watch the Braves play most every game that was on television, which was often since TBS carried almost all of their games! Then I think I burned my family out on them so I haven’t watched it hardly at all the last few years; maybe this will be the year that I pick it back up again. I saw tonight that the Braves beat the Dodgers in their opening game, like 10-5 or something like that. Hope they have a good year. If nothing else, we should try to make some more Mississippi Braves games this year in Jackson; we went to one last year and it was a blast. I remembered when I was there that it is so much more fun to go in person than to watch it on tv.
And of course, Braves games remind me of one of the first times we ever went to one of their games in Atlanta. The kids were fairly little, Elizabeth couldn’t have been more than like 5 or 6. She asked me a ton of questions about the field, the game, the players, etc and then out of the clear blue she asked me if Grandma was going to die! It so totally took me by surprise, I had no idea where that had come from. I wondered for a split second what to tell her and then tried to say that everyone would die but that she probably wasn’t going to die anytime soon. Then she asked again if Grandma would die and I thought I needed to try another answer when she said, “If Grandma dies, can we get a new grandma? and can it be the one with the pony!” I almost passed out laughing. We had been to one of Grandma’s friends the previous weekend, and yes, they had a pony. So she just wanted to make sure that if her grandma was gone, she wanted to get a new one, the one with the pony! I still to this day don’t know why she thought of that during the middle of a baseball game but she was going to make sure I knew about it. I don’t think she remembers it much now but it was cute, at least to me! But I’m the mama.

Cute story, I hadn’t heard that one before. That Elizabeth was too smart for her own good, even at that age, huh? Very smart to realize that if she were to get a new grandma, she should definitely go for the one with the pony 🙂

We loved the M-Braves games last year and plan to go several times this year. Let’s all plan to go together to at least one 🙂
