Lots of things are moving and shaking around here!
1. I’m trying to make a real effort to get some things cleaned out of my house….I’ve put it off for way too many years. So I’m taking advantage of Liz being around because sometimes it’s easier if someone else tells me what to do! I seem to keep things for sentimental reasons and the kids don’t have that same problem. I’ve pulled so many things out of closets and the attic to go through that it probably looks worse now than it did before we started. But we’ve thrown away quite a few bags full of stuff and now are loading our trunks with things to drop at goodwill. I hope we’re making a little progress but the office is probably the worst room and no one wants to tackle it.
2. Yesterday E and I were stunned by a loud explosion in the neighborhood and then loud screaming. A man was checking on a house and went to move some stuff in his back seat and a gun accidentally discharged and shot him! After looking out several windows we discovered him staggering around his car and when I saw blood, we called 911. Many police cars and finally an ambulance showed up; they stayed around for more than an hour, talking to people and taking statements. My arms were trembling/shaking and I think we felt like our hearts raced for most of the morning! Liz asked me if I’d ever seen anyone that had been shot before…no, this was the first time and I don’t think I care to ever see it again. The hole in his side sort of undid me.
3. Little Sam turned one yesterday! How can that be? I haven’t seen him in a month and he’s started walking since then. His party is this weekend so I need to shake a leg and get my gift wrapped! I hope to get some pictures and maybe that will give me something to share later.

And I think I need to regroup after the weird, shaky week we’ve had. I’m going to take a few days to unwind a bit, visit with some of my kids and family and maybe feel better next week!
Don’t let tons of stuff happen for the next few days!

Oh my gosh, what a terrible thing to witness! I think I would come unglued. You poor thing. It is so scarey how accidents can happen. Thank God the man is okay.

Hope you have a nice, quiet weekend.

  2. Stacy Says:

Yeah for the cleaning and decluttering! I need to do more of that here, but I don’t have nearly as much room to keep things as you do, so mine probably isn’t quite as bad. Not much storage space in our house.

That’s scary about the gunshot. I don’t understand how it fired accidentally and why he had a LOADED gun in his car. Tim is still grumbling about that. Never have one in the chamber. Never. That’s basic gun safety. I’m glad he’s ok. When is he getting out of the hospital?

    Come see us!

I think I’d be shaky too! That’s awful. Thank God it was not a child in the firing line of that thing. What on earth was he doing with a loaded gun in the car?

My house definitely needs a major decluttering. My oldest would be a good candidate to help, too. Definitely not the sentimental type whereas I’m like you. I hang onto to things for sentimental reasons. Meanwhile I’m being buried in sentimental.

Wow- that would be a terrible bit of excitement to endure. Is the man okay?

I have been doing some fall cleaning too – it’s not much fun but I love to stand back and admire it when it’s all done!

    Happy weekend!

  5. Dawn Says:

    =O

That would have unnerved me too!

  6. Stacy (the other one) Says:

Yikes. Guns around here are much better cared for than that.

You want to come over and declutter my house. We just seem to keep adding to it.

  7. Debi Says:

Oh my goodness, Gail…sure has been one week full of excitement for you, hasn’t it?!! Any idea how the man is doing? Is he someone you know?

On a much brighter note…Happy Birthday to Sam! But I could swear he was just born last month…

Good luck with the de-cluttering! And you’re right…it always looks worse before it looks better. But you’ll get to “the better” soon enough I’m sure.

  8. Dawn Says:

oh my goodness I’d be freaked out about the guy and the gun. That is a scray thing to have a loaded gun in your car and you know when hunting season starting…guns just scare me!

  9. Nancy Carson Says:

That is really scary. I’ve never seen anyone shot before either. How fortunate that you could call 911 for him. I hope things have calmed down and you can enjoy the festivities surrounding the birthday. Happy Birthday SAM!

  10. jen Says:

That does sound scary. Not sure how would have handled that. I love your fall look. Very festive. Enjoy those babies.

  11. Judi Says:

sounds way too exciting for me!
