I’ve been spending way too much time watching the Olympics but it’s been such fun. Such amazing athletes! Seeing the men’s swim team beat the French in the relay, one of the best things so far! And I don’t care what the Chinese say, there’s no way some of those gymnasts are 16 years old….they look so young. Lots of other things going on here too and I can’t seem to get back on the computer much. But Stacy asked me for the answers to the trivia and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to do it. You guys did great, knew lots of them!

1. D, Greece is always the first in line for the parade of nations
2. The 5 interlinked rings represent the continents
3. Doves released symbolize peace
4. B, Olympic pool is 50 meters
5. C, marathon is 26 miles (plus some some amount but the question only had miles)
6. A, 1896 was the year of the first modern games
7. D, Athens was the city of first modern games
8. B, Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals at the Munich Olympics
bonus…..C, Steve Prefontaine came in 4th in the 5000m run at Munich. I wouldn’t have known this except we watched a movie on him recently, called Prefontaine. He was considered one of the best runners of all time and thought he’d win at Munich so his 4th place finish was disappointing.
He was training for the Montreal Olympics when he had a tragic car accident. I found out after we watched Prefontaine that there is another movie made about the same subject called Without Limits, we might watch that one too sometime! It appeals to the runners in my family!

I’ll try to get back on soon and get caught up but in the meantime, what has been your favorite moment from the Olympics so far?

I didn’t do the questions but I knew most of those. I’ve been watching SO much Olympics. All at night and most of the day stuff on the main station (it’s on when I go to the gym!). I think it has to be a tie…the 4X100 relay and the women’s gymnastics all-around. So exciting.

When the American gal won last night in the gymnastics…she just really deserved it and she really wanted it..you could tell in her eyes…..

I’ve been staying up way too late watching the Olympics the past two nights — Midnight here! I loved last night when the American girls won gold and silver. And the men’s swimming — I’m hooked on it. Phelps is awesome, but my favorite was the relay with Jason Lezak.

I am so out of it with the Olympics this time b/c my husband just doesn’t get into them. I’m trying to keep up online and with the newspaper! I’ll probably catch some this weekend. Fun quiz~

I was so mad at myself for accidentally missing it all last night and seeing the individual gymnastic performances. I went to bed and turned on the tv in time to see them receiving their medals- which was wonderful to see, but I was just so mad that I had missed it all! (I only saw the team performances on Sun. and Tues…)
Anyway…it was kind of a special day yesterday, which distracted me. Come over and read my story…:)

Oh man, I’ve lost way too much sleep this week watching those Olympics! I love it all – but last night when the US girls got the gold and silver – how wonderful!

The 4×100 relay was great. I haven’t watched the women’s all-around yet, but I have it on my DVR and plan to watch it tonight. I have really enjoyed watching the Olympics this time around!

I have stayed up way too late to watch the Olympics each night. There’s been so many good moments unfortunately, none of them Canadian. I have to say watching Nastia win last night was pretty awesome.

  9. Sandra Says:

I’ve been staying up late too, but I can’t help it, I’m loving the Olympics 🙂

Call me a bore but I will be glad when the Olympics are over. Along with the presidental election.

We’ve been watching too, mostly swimming. Phelps is our favorite, by far. We’ve watched some gymnastics and a few other things, and might watch some track and field. Tim likes the basketball, of course. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised that he’s watched some with me. We haven’t watched the Olympics in the last 12 years, so I didn’t have a lot of hope. I think he got interested in Phelps and that helped.

    Fun trivia 🙂

Ooh…the Olympics are so much fun! And I would have to say that any race with Michael Phelps has been a favorite of mine. Although the most amazing is quite possibly the Jamaican 100 m runner and how he just blew the entire field away – just unbelievable how easy he made it look.
