I’ve found another reading challenge I’m going to do, Lynne is hosting and calling it I Heard it Through the Grapevine. This one will be easy enough to handle I think, 3 books between May and the end of November that have been recommended in some way.

Where do you find new books to read? Do you get recommendations from friends? From the library? From the person next to you on the plane or train or bus? From other book blogs?
The goal of this challenge is to read 3 new-to-you books between June 1 and November 30 that have been recommended to you. Feel free to read more if you want! Any type of book is OK. It can even be a book by an author you’ve read before. Cross-overs with other challenges are fine, and you can change books at any time. And there will be a prize at the end of the challenge. You will need to sign up before June 1.

It’s a good thing she says the books can change at any time because I’m prone to change my mind at times! And if I can’t find one of these or find something else I’d rather include, I’m likely to do that. Here’s what I’m doing or think I’m doing right now:
1. A Bride Most Begrudging by Deanne Gist….I’m picking this one based on the author, several blogs I read had enjoyed some of her books so I’m going with this one.
2. Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult….sister Stacy has told me on several occasions to try this one by Picoult; I’ve read one other book by this author. If I can’t get the library to get this one for me I’ll probably borrow another one of hers that Stacy has finished reading.
3. Uncharted by Angela Hunt….I’ve read on other blogs that this was a good one and if I can find it I’ll read it. After reading a review of it it doesn’t sound like the normal books I read, so maybe it might change!

If you have any other books that you really liked or like to recommend to people I’d love to hear about them! I’m always looking for other ideas of stuff to read. Be sure to visit Lynne if you’d like to join in, it’s open to everyone!

OK, I thought about doing this one, but couldn’t remember who or where I had read about a certain book. I see you didn’t name specific people or blogs, so maybe that isn’t as much of a criteria as I thought!

These look like good books, I will be interested to hear your reviews of them. I picked up a Deeanne Gist book at the library yesterday that they got in. I also have Uncharted on my list, but they don’t have it at my local library. They have a few other by Hunt, but not this one. I think you’ll like both Plain Truth and The Pact by Picoult, so those are good ones to add.

    Happy Reading!!!

Gail, thanks for joining! And Stacy – come on!

Uncharted was my favorite book from last year. Really gives one pause to think at the end. If you watch American Idol you might be interested in Idol Eyes by Mandissa. A bit of behind the scenes look and her experience as a Christian within the show. If you like a bit of chick lit book I really enjoyed These Boots Weren’t Made for Walking by Melody Carlson.

Oh good…I’m glad you’re joining this one, too! I swear I could put several hundred on this list…seems like anytime anyone mentions a book I find myself really wanting to read it 🙂

I think I might like to participate if I have the time. I will be reading just don’t know if it will be suggestions or not. I’ve read a Bride Most Begrudging and have read one book by Angela Hunt but not uncharted. I think they’re both good authors. If you get a chance I reviewed two new books here you might like: http://scampsplace.blogspot.com/2008/04/more-book-reviews.html
