I’ve seen this on a few blogs so I’m totally into swiping/stealing borrowing today!
It’s called the “Have you ever” meme… I’m taking part of it to do now, just to be different I’m giving added info on my answers although it could be more than you wanted to know. But it might bring something to mind that I can save for later.

Have you ever:
1. Gone on a blind date… well right off the bat you expect me to remember something from my past! The world of dating was a really long time ago for me. 😆 But I think when I was in junior college some friends set me up on a date with one of their friends. If I remember correctly his name was Tra and my grandmother had the most fun singing out his name, tra-la-la-la-la!
2. Skipped School… the very idea! I was a model student and would never do something like that; at least I don’t think I’ve ever skipped school. Now when I was in elementary school (or was it later?) I can remember not wanting to go for some reason and trying to do something that would make it seem I was sick…..running the thermometer under hot water (smart), hanging my head over the bed so my face would look all flushed or complaining of a headache (which wasn’t such a stretch because I’ve always had bad headaches). But those other things, I’m sure some evil type twin made me do those things. 😉

3. Watched someone die… that’s hard, I’m not sure there’s anyone that would really want to do this. When my mom was so sick in the hospital about 6 years ago it was hard for us to watch. I remember thinking that I didn’t know if I could handle it if she passed away on the nights I stayed with her. As it happened, hubby ended up being there with my dad and most times I think that worked out for the best.
4. Been to Canada…does it count if you drive into Canada looking to go to Vancouver but not staying and driving back to the U.S.? Then yeah, I’ve been there! One summer we took our 4 kids on one of our “see America” vacations. We flew to California, rented an RV for about 10 days or so and drove through California, Oregon and Washington. When we were in Seattle, it was decided we should go into Canada since we were so close. Going across was no problem but I was driving that humongous contraption and could NOT read the road signs that were in French so finally turned it over to Don when we got into Vancouver. I think we had picked out a place to see for the day but it wasn’t going good, we were a bit lost and a huge RV was hard to handle in cities. We gave up eventually and headed back to Seattle after driving around town for a while. Now coming back into the US is a whole nother story indeed! Got stopped by border patrol!
5. Been to Mexico… Yes! We were lucky enough to go to Cancun on a business trip for hubby. Stayed at a nice hotel, ate good food and shopped some, fun! The water was beautiful but I’m not so much of a beach person….in my head I might be but then in reality I don’t have a good body for a swimsuit and I burn badly in about 10 minutes flat!
6. Been to Florida Again yes, many times in fact. We’ve gone to Disneyworld quite a few times on the said business trip mentioned above or just taking the kids. Also Destin and the area around there a lot too. And to Miami and Sarasota on that yearly business trip; most recently we went to Marco Island on business trip, just a couple of months ago in fact.
7. Been on a plane….many times! We’ve been lucky enough to fly to many places for business trips, some for vacation and yearly ski trips and once overseas. Have I missed a plane before? Yes! I wasn’t happy about it one time it happened but have since tried to remember that it usually all works out in the long run.
8. Been lost… Well maybe! I have gotten turned around while traveling and driving before but never for very long periods of time. When we were in Germany on a business trip, my sister in law and I took the train by ourselves to Brussels; we could not speak their language or read some signs! I have a “fair” sense of direction and was able to navigate us from the station to our hotel and the area we wanted to shop in and like to tell people we’d still be there if we were following her directions! But on the other hand I read a map a month or so ago giving me directions to the courthouse in another town for jury duty and went the wrong way because I turned the map wrong, duh. We’ve lost a kid on vacations and excursions on many occasions (should I expound?) and they’ve been known to get left at church too, shhh.
9. Been on the opposite side of the country I would say yes since I’m in MS and we’ve been to the west coast. I’ve not been to Hawaii or Alaska……..I would like this be our summer to go to Alaska, but not sure it’ll happen. Maybe I should explain….
10. Gone to Washington , DC Quite a few times and I enjoy it there. We’ve been in the summer and winter. Even got to sit on the floor on the Congress once! No members were there though….and almost got locked in Arlington Cemetery. One trip there we told our family that we were expecting our 4th child, and I was almost 4 months pregnant.
11. Swam in the ocean Well I don’t swim much (that swimsuit thing) but if the Gulf of Mexico counts, have been in it many times. I’ve also been to the Atlantic and Pacific and at least put my feet in but I think it was cold the times we were there.
12. Cried yourself to sleep…. more times than I’d like to count or remember, thankyouverymuch. And I don’t think I’d like to expound on that, thankyouverymuch.
13. Played cops and robbers….umm, like is this a kid game? I’m not sure it’s something I’ve ever done….I don’t think I played outside much as a kid, I read a lot. And hubby says that’s one thing that’s lacking with me, I didn’t go outside enough as a kid!
14. Recently colored with crayons I have played with sidewalk chalk in the last month or so but don’t think I’ve colored with crayons. Maybe I should this week while I’m with the kids! But I can’t draw so I’d need a coloring book!

And that’s only half of the questions of “have you ever”…. and more stuff than you ever wanted to know or read I’m sure! If you want to see the “real” version of this, sister Stacy and Coach Jenny have done it and you’d probably rather do it that way if you participate! So check theirs out for the full, shorter version. Maybe I’ll do the 2nd part later and then follow up, if anyone bites on anything I said!

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain

Wow, now that’s a longer version of that meme, but still very fun 🙂 I have stuck my toe in both the Atlantic and Pacific, but didn’t count those as swimming. Now that I think about it, I did swim in the ocean when I was in the Bahamas the first time, so I might have answered mine wrong 🙂

You never skipped school? Even I skipped classes in college. I took a couple of “sop” courses and would occasionally skip a class when there wasn’t much going on. I figured you skipped at least one in there somewhere 🙂

You should definitely get some coloring in this week with G and AC. I colored last week with my nieces and nephews, it’s fun! I HAVE to stay within the lines though. Coloring books are a must, but sidewalk chalk is REALLY fun too 🙂

Have a good time out there and give all of the kiddos a big hug from their great aunt and uncle 🙂

  2. Gail Says:

Oh Stacy, college! Maybe I skipped a class once in a blue moon but I really for some reason have no recollection of it but maybe I’ve just blocked it out. 🙂

  3. Becky Says:

That was really fun. I’m going to do it too.

A few things in common … we’ve left one of our kids behind … twice … in the same day! Poor guy.

  4. Dianne Says:

Yes, I skipped classes. And I’ve been to Mexico too – our honeymoon. No one told us our hotel was under construction. Not very enjoyable accommodations! I think I went on one blind date and embarrassed the heck out of myself – we were at a steakhouse and the lady asked how i wanted my steak. Duh – cooked? I thought the guy was going to die. (Dad always grilled ours and I never knew you had a choice between rare, medium and well done!) The guy had 2 middle names so he wouldn’t have worked anyways – LOL!

  5. Susanne Says:

Wow, I did this one but I guess I cheated and just basically answered yes or no. If was fun reading all about you though!
