I’ve been sewing for about the last two days, I’m not through but I think I’m going to have to quit before I Lose.My.Mind! When I sew I tend to get nothing else done, no housework at all, no computer, no reading and barely any meals. I wanted to get everything for Kathryn finished this week and sent off to her but I decided while laying in bed late last night that it’s just not going to happen. I’ve worked on burp cloths and have maybe 2 more to go, worked on a blanket for a while too. And there’s still someone else here I need to make a gift for that I’ve been putting off for a bit. This sewing and embroidering seems to make such a mess that I hate to put it all up without being done.
We’re going to get to see some of our kids this weekend, I’m very excited about that! So today I’ll have to shove the sewing out of the way, regroup and do some cleaning up. I’ve missed being online and seeing what’s happening out there; maybe I can pop by when I’m in and out of the computer room today.
On a different note, I think I’ve finally decided that if I’m ever going to be regular with walking again that I’m going to have to do it by myself……ugh, which I don’t like at all. So this week I have strapped on my iPod, walked to the park to do a few laps on the walking track and then walk home. It’s about a 2 mile walk that way and eventually I’ll work up to a bit more. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I keep hoping that one day the experts will decide, once you’ve exercised for a month you never have to do it again, EVER! I want the benefits of it without having to do it on a regular basis, something I struggle with continually and not just with walking but with other things in life too. I did find some fit podcasts I could download from ITunes for free, but I haven’t just loved the one I’ve heard. So in the meantime, anyone got suggestions for good podcasts they like? Or some good fun music to work out/walk with?
I hope to have some pictures later this evening or tomorrow morning of the stuff I’ve been working on!

I can’t wait to see the fruits of your labor Gail!

Matt asked me to sew a bible cover for his new bible, I have a sewing machine… my mother is an excellent seamstress… but I just feel my way around :).
Anyway, I made it to his specifications and today he mentioned he needs another just like it but bigger for another. I mentioned buying one at Mardels, but he said the ones I make are much better. I dread it 🙂
    Have a great day!

No … no ideas. I don’t have an ipod and I walk 3 miles a day on my own. Well, I take God. It is my prayer time. It works for me. Others say they could never do that. I understand. I could never listen to music while I walk. Which is why I don’t have an ipod.

So I am absolutely no help to you whatsoever.

Except to say that exercise is an acquired taste.

I NEED to get into your sewing mindset when it comes to making greeting cards. I HAVE to get back into it, but for some reason I’m dragging my feet. I always love it once I get started, and like you with sewing, I focus on nothing else, but it’s the getting started that I’m having trouble with. 😉

Glad you’re going to get to see some of your kids! We’re going to have Goober this weekend, so I’m sure I won’t be making any cards THEN. 😀

I feel your pain when it comes to walking. The weird thing is that I like it when I do it. I just don’t like being “told” I have to do it. My rebellious nature I guess.
I downloaded some podcasts from Boo Mama and Big Mama and they are hilarious. But they only have a few. I have also downloaded some quilting podcasts and some of them have been pretty interesting – not all though.
Good luck on the walking. I fell off the wagon again.

I haven’t sewn since junior high–I’ve been thinking about picking it up lately. I have always wanted to make a pretty quilt–and I don’t care anything about it being hand sewn. As for walking, I’m not crazy about doing it myself. I do walk with a friend once and my hubby once a week. The other days, I’m on my own. Thanks for my birthday wishes.

I hear ya on the exercise. Yuck. And aren’t you industrious with all the sewing! Can’t wait to see it all!

I so need to start exercising on a regular basis! Walking, my workout tape- anything! I have to walk by myself too…but I having younger kids, I actually like this- some alone time! Trouble is, I have to do this only after dinner so that my husband is home to watch the girls!

Can’t wait to see all of the baby stuff. You better hurry up, he might come early you know 🙂

As for walking, I haven’t tried any podcasts, but I do have some old 80’s music that I like to walk to. I made a playlist on mine, you should just start going through your music and if you see something you like that is upbeat, drag it to your Walking playlist. Then try walking to that and see if it works.

    🙂

Oh, I read the first sentence of this post and I’m envious! Two whole days of sewing. I know what you mean though, once I’m on a roll with it I don’t like to have to do anything else, and especially dislike having to pick it up and put it away in between projects. I can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on!

Wouldn’t it be great if we only had to do unpleasant things just once. I actually find walking pleasant, but it’s the initial step of getting my rear out there. Good for you for getting going!

  11. Susanne Says:

I wish I could say I relate to the sewing thing but unfortunately I avoid it like the plague. It is the last thing I enjoy doing.

Good for you for going out walking even on your own.

  12. Kara Reed Says:

You mean all of that extra exercise I did a few months ago doesn’t hold over to the last couple of lazy months!?!? I wish!

  13. Debi Says:

Oh Gail…you had me rolling! One month of exercise to last a lifetime…definitely sounds good to me. (Of course, first I’d have to stick with it for a whole month, huh?)

  14. Sonya Says:

Well, I think sewing trumps blogging! LOL! I wish I were better at it. I’m decluttering my life right now so I hope that by the end of the month, I’ll have cleared up alot of my personal time and I’m getting my machine out!My MIL embroiders and I want to learn so it’s on! As for walking, I’m with you on that! I need to lose 20 pounds but the thought of walking by myself is enough to make my brain bleed! Gotta do it though. Just keep thinking about how much better you’ll feel and how much better shape you’ll be in! You go girl!
