When I started this blog, almost 2 years ago now, I really had no idea what I was doing or where I was going with it! I know you’re thinking I still don’t know and many times that’s true. 😆 Back then I didn’t even have a name for my blog, posted sporadically and really had no readers. I found myself using song lyrics and titles a good bit, and Stacy stayed on me until I came up with a name; hence the “More than a song”……it had the added benefit of being a line from a worship song I knew, The Heart of Worship. And I’ve also been saying that I can put an emphasis on the “more” part because at times I use phrases, sayings, slogans, tv shows, etc. I’m not very creative to start with but lately I seem to be coming up dry many days. Here’s the part of “this one’s for you”! There are tons of songs/lyrics/titles out there, more than I could ever use in a lifetime. What are some of your favorite lines from songs or something that’s really wacky or catchy. What/who do you like to listen to? Sometimes I think I might use stuff that’s too obscure and no one recognizes it.
If you give me a line from a song, it might remind me of something else to use and my brain seems to work in that weird way! Any list of songs will probably make me think of other things as well. I went looking for something to use for a post I wanted to do about this past weekend but found this song instead. So I decided to ask you to see what songs might be running through your mind. Oh, and do you know this song? (there’s another line in this song that might turn up later)
Leave me a comment, with material please!

“And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it’s done
    I hope you don’t mind
I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world”

I listened to this song non-stop in high school. It’s back when Elton John was a good performer and we didn’t know the knitty gritty details about his personal life! Hmmm… I haven’t had any songs running through my mind lately except for the “Have it Your Way” Burger King jingle – does that count!!??

The pattern you asked about on my blog is a Simplicity pattern. I bought it at Joann Fabrics. It’s a new one so it should be available for a while. Let me know if you decide to do it!

Yes! I know that song. I am TERRIBLE about knowing who sang what, or even sometimes the lyrics. But tunes I am good at. This one I know. Elton John! I used to love Elton John. Ok, I still love a lot of his music. So be it.

I am very heavy into worship music. I absolutely love worship music. Last week we sang a song in worship that played in my head over and over and over again. I finally called our church office and had the secretary nail it down for me.

It was a Phillips, Craig and Dean song, “You are God Alone”. It is beautiful and will eventually cause me to go buy the CD,just for that song. Meanwhile, I found it and am planning to post it on my blog soon.

I am always so impressed with your titles. I can never remember songs like that. I can’t believe you have been able to do it for two years! Very impressive.

“I hope you don’t mind that I put down into words” . . . my thoughts about this a bit later, when I’ve had to time to think about it! I am TERRIBLE about remembering songs, but for some reason always connect with your titles! This will be fun!

congrats on 2 years. If you really want to hear the song and cry try to find a made for tv movie called Alex, the life of a child. I watched this my senior year of high school and its about a girl with cystic fibrosis. William Hurt is in it and this song is throughout the film. Since then, I love this song..

I certainly do know this song and just about all that you post! I’m a music junkie and love all genres. I am so impressed with how you come up with the perfect ones for your post titles!

    Happy Blogiversary!

And you probably know by now that I have tons of songs running through my head at any given point.

I’m thinking and all that comes to mind is…
    “you don’t bring me flowers,”
    and
“the tide is high so I’m moving on.”
    LOL!

I always enjoy your post titles, and surprisingly, I “get” many of them! Yes, I knew this one. But you’re asking the wrong girl for song ideas (you’ll see why if you read my recent post)!

  12. Becky Says:

Hey Gail, I posted my song for you.

  13. Tammy Says:

Oh Gail…it’s a running joke at our house that we’ve all watched High School Musical 2 just a few two many times in the last ten days! LOL I honestly…truly…cannot go ten minutes about my day without one of the songs running through my mind! We’re cutting back on the watching and getting some balance now, so don’t fear!
But here’s what I woke up to in my head this morning, sung by Troy and the gang…

“We can work, work, work things out…”
    Followed by my favorite,
“All For One…our summer has Just Begun…”

Really…once you see this movie, I don’t care how old you are, it’s pretty addictive! LOL

  14. Debi Says:

Believe it or not I added that song to my playlist just last week!

About the lyrics, let me make a little list and get back to you on that…

I don’t have any brilliant ideas for you, but I was driving down the road yesterday thinking what a great idea you had for your blog and using songs as the titles!

I also cracked up at your title today – “Your Song” Elton John. I know it well as that was the song my high school boyfirend decided was our song. Long after we broke up he would request that song if we happened to be in the same place at the same time.
