I visited North Carolina last month and this past week daughter Kathryn and her Katelyn visited me, as lots of you have heard! I’m sure you’re sick of pics by now but I’m doing a few more. I noticed on both visits that they have a routine, or rather K does, that she likes to keep the baby to. I really think Katelyn does well with having sorta the same routine most days, she seems to know what to expect at certain times.
In the mornings they have breakfast and then most days they go to the gym; Kathryn works out and Katelyn plays with the kids at “gym school.” Occasionally they go to the park to walk/play instead…

Since I live in podunk the boonies small town USA, we don’t have a gym that I belong to, so after breakfast we walked to our small city park to walk laps around the track and then we let Katelyn play on the playground.

We walked about 2 1/2+ miles, clean ourselves up and do a few chores around the house. When the baby woke up it was usually time for lunch. Sometimes we might run an errand or 2 after lunch because Katelyn would be happy enough to go then or we played around the house some. She loves for you to chase her in circles or she’ll chase you. We did it a lot around my island counter in the kitchen while they were here.

Katelyn takes a longer nap in the afternoons and most every day when she gets up they go to their pool….we did the same thing at my house! We have a neighbor who’s very gracious and lets us use the pool anytime we want.

She’s discovered that she loves bubbles too!

It’s usually dinnertime by the time we get through at the pool, and it can be a little messy at times.

She might have gotten more messy because I tended to play peekaboo with her!

But then we could put her in the bathtub to play for a while….little ones always smell so good afterward!

A little more playtime after bath and then they read books to her every night before bed.

A last pic, for now……one morning Don was heading out to go work in Tennessee for a few days and Katelyn gave him the sweetest hug.

She seems to be comfortable with the routine….she knows what to expect at times and if they say it’s bedtime, she may fuss some but as soon as someone picks her up to go upstairs with her, she usually quits fussing and starts waving bye bye! She goes to bed for night and naps pretty easily too. I’m sure things might change in a few months when new baby Sam gets here but I guess in time they’ll come up with another routine that works for them.

Great pics mom. I love her little green jumper outfit. What happened to her face in the pic where they are reading?
Cute pic of her and Dad hugging. Did you take any of you and Katelyn? Put one of those up too.
Looks like ya’ll had a fun week.

That child is downright beautiful. And I’m not even her grandmom. So I’m objective. Totally. Besides, I have NO daughters or granddaughters (yet) so I can say that about anyone I choose.

She is a cutie. I had the same question as Elizabeth. Is that a small bruise on her cheek?

And a new baby??? Somehow I missed that bit of news until now. That is so exciting. And yes, it will put quite a wrench into the daily routine for awhile. But as we know, they will adjust.

I am so glad your daughter has the choice to be able to stay home and enjoy her family.

She certainly loves that water, huh??!! I know you had an awesome time with her and Kathryn.
I finally answered your questions! 🙂 Come check out my answers.

So sweet! We have a similar routine. I think it helps my kids, but I appreciate it as well. I am kind of a routine type girl! Looks like you are having a wonderful visit!

Cute, cute pictures, but hey, it’s hard not to take cute pictures of Katelyn 🙂 I’m glad they were able to stick to their routine, I think it’s really important too.

Nice way to live a life!!! I’d love to nap twice a day and exercise and swim every day !!!

That’s wonderful! Does she want to come visit Vader? He loves to run circles around the sofa. They can entertain each other! 🙂

I am a firm believer that children thrive on a schedule. I know I kept both of mine on one for years. Seems like your daughter is pretty darn good at this Mommy business, LOL. Precious pictures!

  9. Debi Says:

Thanks for sharing all the photos! That grandbaby of yours is absolutely precious! I just love seeing pictures of your little darlins!

If there’s a rule about posting photos of grandbabies, I’m sure I’m breaking it. There’s no such thing as too many photos, Gail. LOL Especially when they’re this cute. What a little doll she is.

And you’re right. She’ll just get into a new routine when Sam arrives. Cameron’s very good about going to bed for naps and nighttime too but I think it’s because I make darn sure he’s very, very tired when I put him down for a nap. 🙂

I never get tired of seeing your granddaughter’s cute little face! So adorable!
And I think I would like a dip in that pool, myself! 😀

She is so adorable, and she looks like a sweet child as well as a pretty girl! I’m with the group, photos are always welcome!

Great pics. Little ones do love routines it seems. I know my little man gets all out of whack if our routine is off.

  14. Robin Says:

What sweet pictures! I agree, routine is best for everyone! I just wish I could get in one!

  15. Dawn Says:

You take the most delightful photos of your grandbabies. =)

Hey Gail, wow she is a cutie! I never mind seeing pictures. I just spent a week with the inlaws on vacation and my 2-1/2 year old niece was definitely the highlight for me. Only she has absolutely no routine, kind of sad because I think kids find security in that.
