Oh my 3 girls would SO know what that’s from but they never read my blog. 🙁 No one else has probably seen this movie and it’s not quite the time of year to watch it!
We went to Colorado for spring break to ski and got home last week. Two of our four kids were able to join us and we missed the others terribly! We did get to see Kat & J’s baby though and what fun that was. She’s 14 months now and wasn’t walking last time we saw her, now she is constant motion! The sky was so blue, the weather very warm and it was typical spring skiing. I took way too many pictures and tried to pare it down but still got quite a few!

We have gotten really spoiled in the last few years staying in ski in-ski out places; Kat and I even talked one day on the lift of how we used to drive in to a ski area, bring a lunch and stay all day. Now if we stay in one of these places we can just walk out the door, ski a bit and come back for lunch! Getting dressed is still work but you don’t have to lug skis all over walking to and from parking lots/shuttle bus etc. This was the view out our door, ski run is just past the trees on left….on the right is Don and Jeremy skiing back to the condo at the end of the day, zip right through the trees to the back door!

Kat & Katelyn out on the run right past our door

At the top of the mountain: Kat, and Don with me

Don & Kat right before they started down a slope and David on the right boarding past me

I caught all 3 kids in this one, David at the top on the board….Kat is further down the hill in yellow and Jeremy is past her on a board in red

At night on St. Patrick’s Day, there were fireworks out over the village area…..K & J had walked down to get out and have coffee, we stayed in with the baby but I did peek out the door to catch some of the fireworks. My camera is not really good enough to shoot them but this one was just “a’ight”.

Miss Katelyn is too young to ski now but she sure enjoys snack time! (although her daddy wants to put her on a board soon I think)

Mountains, gorgeous! About 10,000 ft. And although I don’t think this picture shows it, the sky is just so much bluer there in Colorado than in MS, not sure why. And on the right? This is what I come home to, the flattest land you could imagine…..we are oh, about 80 ft above sea level maybe! It works for farming though which is what a lot of people do in our area, and somebody in this shot has their land all turned over and ready to plant I think.

Forgot to say: the first day we skiied, hubby and I got on some steep, mogul runs that we usually avoid at all costs! It was a mistake for sure, I fell a few times but no damage. The next day I had a great day, skiied blues and greens and mostly groomed but was coming in and got on the flattest piece of land there and fell! That’s when I hurt my thumb….I decided to slow up and not zoom past a ski instructor with a class and when I went to make a turn my ski caught something icy and I was on the ground with no warning and my thumb was in immediate and terrible pain. (I need to fix that sentence but am too lazy today and will leave it!) I had it x-rayed, nothing broken. But showed it to the dr. yesterday at church, he said it was still pretty swollen and it could have a hairline fracture which is what I had thought all along. I’ll have to go back later to get it x-rayed again. He said to give it another week but not sure I’ll make it that long unless it starts feeling better soon. So, it was no great story just dumb luck and a strange fall! Usually people have more exotic injuries like broken leg or arm or something….a friend thought that a hurt thumb was really funny and I think it probably is!

Wow, what a lot of great pictures–it looks like you had a wonderful time and made great memories! Yes, it is fun that my friends found my blog, and they have both started their own. I told them to watch out or they would become addicted like the rest of us!

Great pictures! Miss Katelyn looks like she was having fun, and I know the guys had fun on the snowboards. I’m so glad you all got to go, just wish T, S and their kids and also Eliz could have made it. Careful talking bad about your home area, now! The mountains are gorgeous though, and my favorite place to be, although not really skiing.

    🙂

Looks like you had a great time. Don’t wait too long to have your thumb re-x-rayed.

Isn’t that song from White Christmas, when Bing, Danny, Rosemary, and Vera Ellen were sitting in the dining car of the train heading up to Vermont? I know they sang a song about snow.

  6. Stacy (the other one) Says:

The pictures are great! And Miss Katelyn is precious!!!

Oh, so sorry about your painful thumb! Yikes! But the pictures are so beautiful and yes, the sky is bluer!
    Little Katelyn is a cutiepie!

  9. Debi Says:

I’m thinking it’s really not so funny right now. Hope it starts getting better soon!
Other than the injury, your trip sounded perfectly delightful! Wish all your kids could have made it though. Katelyn is just as cute as can be! Glad you all had such a wonderful time!

    White Christmas baby! :^D

Oh and Snow… we currently have 3 inches on the ground and it’s still coming. Our last snow of the year usually happens around the last week of May!

I’m tyring to figure out where you were – was it Breckenridge? I’m not a skier so although I’m a stone’s throw away from all the beautiful ski resorts, we never go there.

My goodness, thank heavens it wasn’t a more exotic injury. Your poor thumb sounds painful enough. Imagine a broken leg. Hint: that’s why I’m not a skier.

I had no idea you’d made and posted photos of burp cloths, Gail. I feel like a copyright criminal. LOL Yours are adorable and you know what? I think a combination of mine and yours would be really nice. Your applique on top of my fabric overlays would be really sweet.

Isn’t it amazing how flat the land looks when you return from the mountains?

  12. Gail Says:

Yep, Lynne and Nan knew that this song is from the movie White Christmas….a holiday favorite of the girls around here!
