Making little baby gifts has been one of my favorite things to sew since I’ve had my embroidery machine. I need to figure out some way to have a little side business with it! Kathryn is about the only person that’s wanted to “hire” me; she seems to have a lot of friends having babies at the moment so it’s a good way for her to have some fun or personalized gifts. I’ve done quite a few of these baby burps for girls I know that were having babies too. Getting started is always the hardest part for me when sewing but when it’s going, I could sit and play with the trims, designs and colors for hours! Sewing makes a HUGE mess, or is it only me? Anyone else have it strewn all over when sewing?
These are the latest burp cloths I’ve done; I talked to K this week and she wants a couple more of these for another friend, so I’ll need to pull my stuff out again. (I love the yellow & white polka dot trim, it was a new ribbon I had and we loved how it turned out! I’m going to have to look for some more fun trims like that)

Aww, thanks Claire….but really the machine does all the work so it’s not so much me at all!

I think there is a market out there for these. Get that machine going and I can help you make a million at it !!

Those are very beautiful. How much do you sell them for?
I’m currently trying to get a scrapbooking business and breadmaking business going. I have one loyal bread customer and I had one loyal scrapbooking customer buy she moved away. All my other customers are sporadic.
I’ll be praying that you can get your little business underway.

    Let me know prices!!!

I am very impressed. I agree – people would pay for these. Like me – ha! I don’t need burpie cloths though!

Gail! these are great! you have *such* an eye for color. and i have to tell you. after having worked in a daycare with the infants, these are so much more fun than the boring old plain ones. i know they just get dribbled on & barfed on & other such runny baby events, but why not be fun & cute! and the name thing? would have made my days soooo much easier! 😉
