“I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas……” Yeah, I’ll be dreaming for a while because snow won’t happen in the South. This meme has been going around and I’m a little late but think I’ll do it anyway.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate…….although I would probably rather have spiced tea or decaf Peppermint Mocha, yum!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa just sits them under the tree.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Well, D & I both had colored lights growing up and we did colored lights a lot while the kids were younger…..it seems to be an ongoing battle here because mostly I’ve been doing white since they have been older and the kids don’t like it at all! They keep telling me it’s not a “real” Christmas because we don’t have colored lights and a “real” tree! I think they just like to mess with me.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No!

5. When do you put your decorations up? I like to put them up Thanksgiving weekend when the kids are home but we were in Destin this year and didn’t get home until Sunday night so we didn’t get it done then. Working on it this week and I’m ready for it to all be done!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I like them all! Dressing, and broccoli casserole maybe

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child. Like Stacy, I don’t have many memories from childhood but, I have a VERY vivid memory of one Christmas Eve when I was little, maybe like 6ish, in the bed trying to go to sleep……I saw Santa Claus fly by my window, the reindeer, sleigh and Santa inside! I was so scared that I hid under the covers for a very long time that night.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? This is a vague memory but I think I was a little older and one day found my Christmas list or letter to Santa maybe and realized what was going on. I don’t have any memories of anyone telling me about it.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We open everything on Christmas morning. When the kids were really little, they would get to open one on Christmas Eve, and sometimes we do that now if it’s some gift that we might use that night, like a game.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? White lights and many varied, sentimental ornaments. I have some red and gold balls I use to try to have some continuity on the tree; or if I’m using colored lights I’ll use blue, purple, and green balls. We have lots of ornaments that the kids have made over the years or that they have collected, but they are taking those now that some of them are having their own places. We do try to get ornaments when we travel so we have something to remember our trips. I bought a boot this year when we were at the dude ranch in Colorado on vacation!

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it! But we almost never get it here so it’s easier to love if you don’t have to deal with it on an every day basis.

12. Can you ice skate? Just a teeny bit; have done it once or twice but had to do a lot of holding on!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? About 4 or 5 years ago hubby gave me a Bernina sewing/embroidery machine and I was really surprised by that! I had asked for a new machine for years when the kids were little and never expected to really get it; I love that machine and use it more than I ever thought I would. It was a total surprise and I love that he did that for me.

14. WhatÒ€ℒs the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with my family and remembering the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Homemade cookies, fudge

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas Eve candlelight service, doing Advent devotions with the kids, and the way we make them open gifts one at a time so everyone can see what’s going on.

17. What tops your tree? an angel

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving—I love finding just the right thing to give.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Oh I love them all! O Come All Ye Faithful, O Holy Night (by Josh Groban), I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas…….I could go on.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?? I can take one or two but then get tired of them; I like them in something like hot chocolate or coffee! Yep, gotta go get a Peppermint Mocha or some peppermint creamer!

Yeah, I’m glad you played along! I thought you might like this one, I really liked the questions. And a couple of our answers were similar, imagine that πŸ™‚

I should have given you my Peppermint Mocha when you were here the other day. It’s good, but I think I like the gingerbread better. Sorry πŸ™

  2. Tammy Says:

    This was fun! πŸ™‚
And the answer about finding out the truth about Santa…I thought you would say “what do you mean?” because of the fact that you saw him fly by as a child! LOL

  3. Kelli Says:

This is a great meme…I think I might try it later today! I was about seven when my parents told me about Santa. I think they realized that some of the other kids in the neighborhood were going to tell me if they didn’t! πŸ™‚ We will probably have quite a few of the same answers. I SO WISH IT WOULD SNOW!!!!
    Dreaming! LOL!

Isn’t this the greatest meme for getting everyone into the spirit of Christmas? I don’t blame you one bit that your favorite gift is the Bernina machine. My goodness, you must have been a very good girl that year!

You did a great job on this – it’s always nice to learn a little more about friends.
