The doctor called back late yesterday to give us the results of the biopsy………both of mine are cancerous and will have to be taken out but none of Don’s three places were. His are pre-cancerous and can be dealt with by freezing them. No fair that I have to be cut on! He was the one with the appointment and wanted to go, he just kind of had me go as a sidenote at the last minute. I’ll have to go back in a few weeks and get them taken out and she said that I might be prone to more since I’ve had these……..oh fun, something to look forward to!
They are the basal cell carcinoma kind, the most common I think and maybe it’s good it’s not melanoma.

Very good that it’s not melanoma, but I still hate hearing that word, “cancer”. That word worries and scares me. So, they will cut it out? Or laser it out, or what? Is there any chance it will spread, will you just need to keep going back and having things checked?

I’m so glad you went with Don and got it looked at! Makes me really vigilant about wanting to put on sunscreen now. Although, I didn’t wear it as a child and had several bad sunburns, including some with water blisters, so I imagine most of the damage is already done.

So happy for you and the fact that it is not melanoma…that is worse, and I think more likely to spread. Tans look so pretty, but that skin cancer thing scares the p-wadding out of me…:-)

Oh, that is not fun. But at least you aware to watch for them. I have these removed all the time (I go for body checks every 6 months) and the only painful part is the novicaine. After that it’s easy. Good luck!
