I wanted to write about our trip to Disney while it is still fairly fresh in my mind. A couple of weeks ago, we left on a Saturday to fly to Orlando to meet Trent, Shanna, Grayson and Ava Clair for a week long trip to see the Mouse! We had a great time.

We all met up at the airport on Saturday afternoon and boarded a bus, Disney Magical Express, that took us to our hotel. We stayed at the All Star Music Resort and almost as soon as we got there, we regrouped and got on a bus again to go to Epcot. We had dinner reservations at The Rose and Crown Pub in the United Kingdom, in World Showcase. We had also read that it was a good spot to watch Illuminations, the laser light show with lots of fireworks. They seated us outside and we had a good spot! After we ordered and I think we had gotten our appetizers, it started raining, then hard! Everyone outside made a dash for indoors and the waiters began looking for spots inside to seat people. We waited just a bit longer and it cleared up enough to go back out….they cleaned it up quick and we started over. We told them it looked like they had done that before, they laughed and said it was the rainy season! We found that to be very true for the rest of the week! The meal was really good, Illuminations was fun and Grayson especially loved it.

Back to our rooms after that and our luggage was there when we arrived but Trent and Shanna’s luggage didn’t get in til the next morning! 🙁

Shanna had booked our reservations several months ago. After she got the rooms and tickets, she found a code for getting the dining plan for free while we were there! We each got a snack, a counter service meal and a table service meal each day we were there…….counter service is sorta like fast food (sandwich or pizzas etc, usually with dessert or salad with it) and the table meal included appetizer, entree, dessert and drink for each of us. We were SO glad to have that plan and we had a reservation at a different place every night there….she did a great job planning it.
We took cereal bars, packets of instant oatmeal, some coffee and a heater to heat water with so we could eat in our rooms each morning if we wanted. So, after doing that on Sunday morning, we headed out for the Magic Kingdom and went to Fantasyland first so the kids could ride. I think it started raining almost as soon as we got there, we got out raincoats, etc and about as soon as you could put it all on and cover up the stroller, it would stop raining! And then it would be steamy hot, but it could have been worse. We did Mad Tea Party, Small World, the Carousel, Mickey’s Philharmagic 3-D show, Snow White and I think Winnie the Pooh….a couple of those we got fast passes for and came back later.

We had lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus I think it was, pizza for some and maybe salads and sandwiches for others. The kids napped periodically in the stroller or while in lines. We also road the train, went to Toontown and road Goofy’s Barnstormer roller coaster and shopped a little there. Shanna bought Grayson a Buzz Lightyear there, if you pushed his legs together something on his head would spin around and light up…..it was probably one of Grayson’s favorite things and might have been the best thing they got him for while there! They also got mickey ears and drinking cups, cute. We also did the Peter Pan ride and Pirates of the Caribbean, always fun. Our dinner reservation that evening was at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant on Main Street. Don and I had decided to split something that night because I felt like I would probably eat way too much that week and Grayson that night was going to eat off Trent and Shanna’s plates, which was all acceptable to do and could be done on our plan, but our waiter did not understand what we were doing! But that’s a whole other story! Don and I had salmon and salad, it was very good. I think Shanna had a pasta with eggplant of some sort and Trent maybe spaghetti and meatballs and of course we had desserts! The kids got changed into their halloween costumes there, because that night the park closed early and then opened back up for people that had tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party. They gave us all trick or treat bags and had stations set up all over the park to go and get candy! People everywhere were in costume and especially Disney employees. At Tony’s, all the staff were dressed as zombies maybe you would call it, all made up. I asked one of the ladies who did their make up and she said to me rather indignantly, what makeup!! We got lots of pictures of the kids with different characters, rode a few rides (probably some of the ones I listed above). We tried to ride Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain but both were closed for repairs or maintenance or something. This may have been the night that Don and I did Stitch’s Great Escape over in Tomorrowland…..I think we have been on it before when it was called something different. We rode the Dumbo ride and saw the fireworks and we stayed until almost midnight! Everyone was very tired at the end of the day!

Shanna would do a much better job of writing this than me! She’s much better at that sort of thing, and probably remembers more than me! I should have done it the next day after we got back.

And……..I want to go back too! When are we planning our next trip!
