On Saturday we decided, sort of at the last minute, to go to a matinee showing of
The Da Vinci Code. Got into some unexpected traffic and were a bit late getting there……I do so hate to miss the beginning of a movie. But E and C have both read the book and said they would fill us in. I still had a bit of a time getting all the names and groups straight. It seemed to be a fairly suspenseful movie although I don’t think the critics have been too kind toward it. Without having read the book, both the hubby and I could figure out early on where he was going with it as far as the girl was concerned; that didn’t seem to be too much of a mystery to me to figure out there. Our pastor started a series on it Sunday night at church. He saw the movie as well so he’d know what he was talking about and had talked to someone last week that said they could see how all of it could be true and seemed to buy into it. That seems to be where some of the problem comes in with it…..I know how I believe, I know that the book is a wildly creative work of fiction but some people that don’t know for sure what they believe or know as much about Jesus or history might seem to take it all as truth.
The kids said that parts of the movie toward the end were not things that were in the book; people that liked and read the book might be disappointed by the movie and I’ve heard that the book was better. It will be a big movie and make a lot of money even though the critics don’t seem to like it. And it might be a good thing that it will get people talking about it all. Found some pretty good sites that have more of the truth about it all so if you want to read more about it, check here, here, or here for more articles and info.
