Book - Shepherds Abiding by Jan Karon

This is the latest (and Christmas) book in the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I have read all of the books in this series that she has written to date, and enjoyed every single one of them. This one was no exception. These books are very charming, very old-fashioned, and very uplifting. They follow the life and times of Father Timothy Kavanaugh in the tiny town of Mitford, North Carolina. There's the usual assortment of quirky and eccentric townspeople, congregation members, friends and family, etc. I highly recommend these books to anyone wanting a lighthearted, very easy book to read. I would start with the first one though, which was "A Light in the Window". I have borrowed some of the first ones from Linda and Sarah, bought "In this Mountain" and checked the others out from the library. (This one came from the Madison library).

I was VERY sorry to read on the jacket of this one that her last book in this series will be released in 2005. I hate to say goodbye to these characters and the homey little village of Mitford.
